About the Chapter

The NAN AUC Youth & College Chapter is a unified civil rights organization serving all five Atlanta University Center institutions — built by students, for students.

Our Mission

To equip the next generation of leaders with access, opportunity, and a community worth belonging to. We organize, mobilize, and develop civically engaged students across the AUC who are committed to the fight for justice, equity, and community empowerment.

Our Standard

Membership in the NAN AUC Chapter is intentional and earned. We hold ourselves to a high standard because the work demands it. Every member commits to showing up — for the chapter, for the community, and for the movement.

Service

Community action projects, voter registration drives, and advocacy work tied to NAN's active campaigns.

Networking

Access to NAN's national network of civil rights leaders, executives, and elected officials through structured events and speaker series.

March on Washington FAQ

August 28, 2026  ·  Washington, DC  ·  Everything you need to know.

What is the March on Washington?

This is the 63rd anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s historic "I Have a Dream" speech. The NAN AUC Chapter is joining National Action Network's national call to march in Washington, DC on August 28, 2026.

Do I need to register?

Yes. You can register at nanauc.com.

Is there a deadline to sign up?

Yes — the deadline is August 21st. We will not be adding anyone who registers after that date. However, you can still join the chapter for on-campus events.

Should I bring a backpack?

Yes. This is essentially a day trip. You will leave the evening of August 27th at 6:30pm, arrive in DC on the 28th for the march, leave DC that evening, and arrive back in Atlanta the morning of August 29th. Pack accordingly.

What is the itinerary for the day?

The full itinerary is still tentative and will be released with future communications. Stay tuned to your email and the chapter GroupMe for updates.

How will updates be shared during the trip?

Updates will be shared through email and the official chapter GroupMe once it has been shared with members.

Is there a group chat?

Yes. There will be a GroupMe for the chapter as a whole that will include updates on and throughout the trip. Details will be shared with registered members.

Is there a cost to attend?

Transportation is covered by the chapter. Additional details on any costs will be communicated to registered members ahead of the trip.

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably and appropriately for an outdoor march in August. We recommend comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and layers for the bus ride. More specific guidance will be shared closer to the date.

What should I bring on the bus?

We recommend bringing a valid photo ID, water, snacks, a portable charger, comfortable clothing, and anything you may need for an overnight bus ride. A complete packing list will be sent to registered members.
